4 Secrets To Amazing Skin

Last year I didn’t do much to take care of my skin, I was so busy trying lose my huge midsection that I had no time for anything else(such a lie, I had time…I just did not care). However last year my skin was better than ever. My biggest problem with my skin is; my thighs are slightly darker than the rest of my body and I have stretch marks on my tummy, obliques and butt. These 2 things have bothered me since primary school, and I have tried a few things to get rid of them but nothing has worked so far. These 2 problems haven’t bothered me much the last 5 years, I decided to embrace them and move on with life. Last year I noticed that my stretch marks were fading and my thighs were catching up to my face. 

Here’s my 4 secrets to amazing skin;

Aim for 2 litres of water a day. This is not as easy as it sounds, I don’t hate water but I do struggle to drink those 2 litres. It has to be done though. Drinking water also increases your metabolic rate and mobilises the stored fat into energy. Drinking water religiously everyday can take 5 years off your face and even eliminate acne. If you’re not a water drinker try infuse it with lemons and fruits


However you choose to work out that’s up to you as long as you’re sweating it out. Working out increases blood flow which nourishes the skin cells and also flushes waste out of your body. Exercise also reduces stress and for some people stress causes acne. Lastly exercise builds muscle and gives you much firmer skin.


Exfoliating is the removal of dead skin cells from the top layer of our skin. Our skin sheds thousands of dead cells per minute. I don’t do anything fancy here, I just use shower gloves that are made from some rough fabric. These are perfect for exfoliating. They cost kes 200. Don’t use them on your face! They look like this.


I use my usual cocoa butter lotion to moisturise my skin however from sometime last year(October 2015) I added Bio Oil into my regimen. I have used Bio Oil before, during my pregnancy, and it didn’t work for me. This time however I have noticed a huge change in my stretch marks especially the ones I acquired when I got pregnant(they are on my lower tummy) I don’t entirely attribute the change to the oil but to my already ongoing regimen. Would I recommend it to a friend? Yes, especially if they have a set out skin regimen. Have you ever used Bio Oil? Did it work for you? Do share.

    The secret to drinking alot of water is taking it slowly like you drinking tea that way you will absorb more water without running to the loo every single time! I exfoliate with sour milk n unga n leaves my skin soft n mosturized!

    I have had stretchmarks since puberty when I grew taller over night, I have pretty much exhausted every remedy available bio oil, cocoa butter, strivectin sd (it was meant to be the answer) and finally gave up. I am 35 weeks pregnant and I have been expecting them but praying they don't show. This time I used raw shea butter, avocado oil and coconut oil whipped to a buttery consistency. I cannot for sure say this has helped as I still have five weeks to go, but it has significantly faded the old ones. Oh and water 3ltrs daily.

    The blank taste of water was boring after a while so i started flavoring the water by adding cucumbers,pineapples,lemons,melons or grapefruit..The ingredients i add have a healthy plus to our bodies…

    Those shower gloves are the truth! and sooo cost effective. I am big on DIY so I save all the coffee grinds (or shamelessly borrow from starbucks) add some coconut oil and hello perfect body polisher. Plus the caffeine helps keep the pesky annoying cellulite at bay. Win all around. I gotta do better with exercise though….especially now that it's winter….getting to the gym is a struggle. True on the water!

    The easiest way I got rid of stretchmarks was through that Palmers cocoa butter cream 4 preggos. Beautiful stuff! Water is bae and I rub coconut oil onto EVERYTHING! I would rub it onto my bank account if I could. Thanx 4 the post!

    I used to use bio oil in past but I stopped since they don't stock it that often here. It worked for me. It probably reduces the appearance of stretch marks. But what I realised is, it fades away new scars… I remember I badly burnt myself on my right thigh and the scar faded. like completely gone. So I guess it works well with fresh scars but the old ones take sometime .

    Anyway these are very nice tips. Especially 2 litres of water. It's easier said than done but it works.

    A huge ass bottle does help! Nakumatt or any other supermarket you'll get coconut oil in jars in the cooking oils section.x

    I bought a 1.5 litre bottle that I keep at the office and I refill it thrice. Buying a huge ass bottle has helped me up my drinking water game. Where do you buy coconut oil?

    Try an app called Drink Water…I have to warn you though…it can piss you off if you ignore it. it makes a sound like someone is pouring water into a glass….

    I drink 2 litres of water and my face is thanking me. I'm looking for a "waterapp" that can remind me to drink more water mostly on weekends. I don't much when I'm at home. I only use coconut oil on my hair. I should try it on my face 🙂

    I use those exfoliating gloves that I got from Supercosmetics for 200 bob, I drink 3.5 to 4 litres of water a day I kid you not I love drinking water and for the longest time I didn't know it has been helping with my skin until I started reading blogs. I use bio oil on my face and neck everyday and for my body oil I just mix coconut oil it works if you use it consistently I have no stretch marks due to applying coconut oil.
